Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer Cervara.
Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks his initial title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of that year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.
His retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted some to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.
However the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an better service.
He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the last five games to go ahead.
Both players traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, took control to force a final set.
The opponent defended four early chances in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
