Major Russian Attacks Cut Power Across Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were experienced blackouts and encountered disruption to water systems, per reports from city officials.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the America, the EU and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been transported for medical care, per statements from city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city came under intense attacks throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child was killed and multiple civilians were wounded.

The strikes succeed nights of air raids in the region, portions of which remain under the control of invading troops.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to spot.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the national power system, with assaults already impacting gas facilities.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were anticipating additional strikes.
